Flat-push type, flat-pull type, single-R push type, and single-R pull type: a total of 4 products (for right-handed users).
The horizontal filing series is used differently from the traditional method of pushing along the file’s long edge. Instead, it is used by sliding it horizontally (perpendicular to the long edge).
“Easy to use for women and children,” “Breaking the heavy image of traditional files.”
With a concept focused on making it easier for women to perform deburring tasks in factories and for children to work on crafts without relying on cutting tools, we have developed these user-friendly files.
Our company constantly aims to “create tools with new value,” and this has led to the development of the horizontal filing series.
Designed based on user feedback, this series features excellent designs and aims to support customers’ tasks through increased sales of the horizontal filing series.
□ Product Name: Horizontal Filing Series
□ Product Category: Deburring File
□ Designer: Itsuo Nakamura (Tsubosan Co., Ltd., Headquarters)
□ Designer’s Comment: Until now, files have mostly been perceived as long, narrow, and heavy tools.
Many users also associate files primarily with “removing burrs.” However, the greatest appeal of files is their ability to transform existing materials into something original through filing.
To this end, we developed a safe, user-friendly file concept as an entry-level product, suitable for women and children.
The “Horizontal Filing” series:
1. Unlike conventional files (designed exclusively for right-handed users), this product lineup is designed to be used by both right- and left-handed users.
2. After extensive trial and error to facilitate horizontal filing, we newly developed a slightly curved file pattern instead of a straight one. This design improves material engagement and makes it easier for women and children to use, compared to traditional products.
By incorporating this newly developed file pattern and feedback from users unfamiliar with files, we have created a completely new tool that stands apart from traditional files. This tool combines over 100 years of file-making tradition with human interface design, resulting in a balanced tool that exudes functional beauty.
